I started reading it in the car waiting for my husband to return!! Am totally engrossed in what promises to be yet another fantastic read! Love your style and how you transport the reader to be right 'there', I can picture everything so well. Wonderfully Australian!

I have just finished your book 'When Darkness Falls' and really enjoyed it. I am now on the look-out for your next book 'Dark Country' to hit the shelves up in North Queensland, so I can complete it after reading the 1st chapter published at the end of your first novel. Congratulations.

Jenny and Cathryn - Thank you for your lovely comments! And my apologies for taking a while to respond - I do appreciate you both taking the time to comment.

Jenny, I've always loved reading books that reflect the Australia I'm familiar with, so when I started to write, I knew what I wanted to write about!

Cathryn, thank you for such a positive and enthusiastic review. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed both books so much, and honoured that you've placed me in such fine company!

Dark Country is the second best book I have read this year, the best being Bronwyn Parry’s first novel As Darkness Falls. Quite often the second book fails to meet expectations when the first was so powerful, but I am glad to say this book is equal to the first. The reader is held in suspense right until the end and the there is everything you could want in a good read – suspense, drama, romance, and intrigue all set in the great Australian bush. The characters are strong and believable and the story line keeps readers engaged all the way through. Move over Di Morrissey, Judy Nunn and Rachael Treasure Australia may have found a new shining star on the horizon in the world of great Australian fiction.

Eric,
A belated but sincere than you for your very kind and positive words about Dark Country! I'm glad the sticker peeled off 'your' tree easily - it's lovely seeing the sticker on the books, but there's not a lot of spare space on the cover for it to go.

I'm not sure about the traffic jams and subdivisions in Dungirri - there's still the issue of little employment, not to mention the death rate is somewhat higher than average! However, I'm sure the Progress Association will gradulally improve things, and perhaps lure some tree-changers away from the city :-)

It was great to see you at the panel yesterday - sorry I didn't get to ctach up with you afterwards!

Thanks again,
Bron

Bronwyn Parry, There isn’t much time. If you don’t seek notoriety than you should stop writing immediately. Although I suspect it’s already to late.

Dark Country is an absolute ‘mistress/masterpiece.’ ---- A pure joy to read. I felt something with every word.

I love continuity novels and yet, until today, I’ve only one truly perfect example in the special bookshelf I guard like a hawk. Well there are two examples now as Dark Country and As Darkness Falls are both wonderful and worthy additions to that special place.

I’m quite sure anyone who reads Dark Country that hasn’t already read As Darkness Falls will want to do so. They should and they won’t be disappointed for reading them in the wrong order. It will not detract from their experience at all. ---- I think that must be the mark of an Author who has something very special to offer readers.

The publicity generated by the realism and wonderful entertainment value of Dark Country will cause traffic jams in Dungirri. I see new subdivisions occupied by people wishing to retire somewhere grand. And, I’m sure the progress society will want to erect the worlds largest Parry to attract more tourism.

My only complain: They put a ‘50 books you can’t put down’ sticker over the top of ‘my’ tree. Not to worry it came off cleanly, but not before I found myself in quite a bind thinking the tree might come off as well.

A was thinking of lending Dark Country to my father to read. That was before I read it myself. I’ll take him to the shops for Father’s Day and point out where he can buy his own. Dark Country is one of those rare books I mustn’t lend to anyone. They’ll fall in love and make any excuse to never return it.

I’m going to keep my copy of Dark Country by my side wherever I go. Every intelligent lady who appears to have something special inside I shall stop and ask if their name is Bronwyn Parry. When I find the correct one I’ll ask her to sign my book. It will give me something very special to leave to my grandchildren, make me feel special, as Ms Parry will be a household name. I can feel that in the words of her novels.

Thank you for something special. I’ve made myself a promise. Any future novel that is written by Bronwyn Parry I will purchase. And, I know I’ll love it to death. ----- Eric
